NICK BODLE - PHOTOGRAPHY

I use three Nikon cameras which I use mainly for portraits and candid shots and these are reasonably light to carry. I very rarely use colour for this type of work. I have a Nikon FM3A which I load with Ilford Delta 400 and on occasions Ilford FP4. I have a Nikon FA which is always loaded with a roll of Kodak IR film. I now also have a Nikon D200 Digital Camera but I find I still by a long way prefer the images produced by my medium format Cameras when shooting on slide film using Valvia and this is what I tend to do more of. I have listed these below. I have a wide range of Nikon lenses to go with these cameras and two Sigma lenses |

I have two medium format Cameras systems, a Bronica ETRsi and a Pentax 67II, a recent acquisition. I have four backs for the Bronica one of them is a panoramic back which takes 35mm film and I quite often load this with Kodak IR. One back is usually spare but in the other two I have a roll of black & White film and in the other a colour slide film, usually Velvia. I have a AE111 finder for this camera but I do not always find this very accurate so I mostly take my meter readings with a Sekonic L-608 hand held meter. I do find the finder quit good for assisting with composition however. The lenses I have with this camera are 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, 150mm and a 2x converter. I find this Camera reasonably light so I use this when I'm walking the fells or going any great distance. The Pentax 67II has one draw back which is you cannot change the film part way through (unless you want to lose frames). But I cannot fault the exposure meter. I only use a hand held meter if I have a long exposure in very low lighting conditions. I find this camera a pleasure to use; some say its heavy but it is a work horse and it makes you think about the picture. The final image quality is excellent, very sharp and the lenses seem to cut through haze. I have a 45mm, 75mm, 105mm and a 300mm lense which I find them perfect for taking landscapes and architectural pictures. I prefer the landscape format this and the Bronica gives me. |

I try to standardize my film I use and tend to stick to Valvia for my slides and Delta 400 and Kodak HIE for my black and white photography. I have a Hasselblad medium format projector which I use to project my slides although I do have to cut my images taken on the Pentax to allow them to fit the 6 x 6 format that this projects. I scan my images on an Epson Perfection 3200 Photo and print out the final image using an Epson 2100 printer on premium semi gloss or archival matte paper. |
